QuOTE SURVEY RESULTS

2017:

QuOTE 2017 Q4: The Quarterly Outlook of Triangle Entrepreneurs (QuOTE) survey for the fourth quarter of 2017, conducted by the City of Raleigh and the NC State Entrepreneurship Clinic, finds entrepreneurs are more optimistic regarding the next six months relative to responses in the Q3 2017 survey.

Among the entrepreneurs participating in this survey, the same percentage – 85.4 percent (vs. 85.4 percent in Q3 2017) – report that they anticipate the next six months may bring increases in sales. In terms of capital spending, a higher percentage – 58.5 percent (vs. 52.6 percent) – anticipate increases, while for employment a greater percentage – 63.6 percent (vs. 60.5 percent) – anticipate increases.

Among the entrepreneurs participating in this survey, a slightly higher percentage – 85.4 percent (vs. 84.9 percent in Q2 2017) – report that they anticipate the next six months may bring increases in sales. In terms of capital spending, a lower percentage – 52.6 percent (vs. 58.7 percent) – anticipate increases, while for employment a lower percentage – 60.5 percent (vs. 65.6 percent) – anticipate increases.

QuOTE 2017 Q2: The Quarterly Outlook of Triangle Entrepreneurs (QuOTE) survey for Q2 2017, conducted by the City of Raleigh and the NC State Entrepreneurship Clinic, finds entrepreneurs are viewing the next six months with the same level of optimism as found in the QuOTE’s first-quarter 2017 survey results. Among the entrepreneurs participating in the second-quarter survey, a slightly higher percentage 84.9 percent (versus 84.1 percent in Q1 2017) report that they anticipate the next six months may bring increases in sales. In terms of capital spending, a slightly lower percentage, 58.7 percent (vs. 65.9 percent), anticipate increases, while for employment slightly more, 65.6 percent (vs. 64.8 percent) anticipate increases.

(versus 83.6 percent in the fourth quarter of 2016) report that they anticipate the next six months may bring increases in sales. In terms of capital spending, a much higher percentage, 65.9 percent (versus 52.7 percent), anticipate increases;  the same is true for employment, 64.8 percent (versus 52.1 percent) anticipate increases.

2016:

QuOTE 2016 Q3: The Quarterly Outlook of Triangle Entrepreneurs (QuOTE) survey for the third quarter of 2016 finds entrepreneurs are viewing the next six months a bit more optimistically in comparison to Q2 survey responses. A slightly lower percentage of Q3 2016 survey participants, 81.3% (vs. 82.4% in Q2 2016), report that they anticipate the next six months may bring increases in sales. In terms of capital spending, a higher percentage, 56.8% (vs. 45.7%), anticipate increases; for employment, 58.8% (vs. 56.1%) anticipate increases.

QuOTE 2016 Q2: The Quarterly Outlook of Triangle Entrepreneurs (QuOTE) survey for Q2 2016, conducted by the NC State Entrepreneurship Clinic, finds entrepreneurs are viewing the next six months somewhat less optimistically than they did in the first quarter of this year. Among the entrepreneurs participating in this survey, a lower percentage 82.4% (vs. 88.2% in Q1 2016) report that they anticipate the next six months may bring increases in sales. Similarly, in terms of capital spending, a lower percentage, 45.7% (vs. 46.3%) anticipate increases, and for employment growth, 56.1% (vs. 61.2%) anticipate increases.

QuOTE 2016 Q1: The Quarterly Outlook of Triangle Entrepreneurs (QuOTE) survey for Q1 2016, conducted by the NC State Entrepreneurship Clinic based in the NC State University Poole College of Management, finds entrepreneurs are viewing the next six months more optimistically in terms of sales, capital spending, and employment growth. Among the entrepreneurs participating in this survey, a greater percentage – 88.2% (vs. 83.6% in Q4 2015) – report that they anticipate the next six months may bring increases in sales. In terms of capital spending, a greater percentage – 46.3% (vs. 43.5%) – anticipate increases, and for employment, 61.2% (vs. 50.4%) anticipate increases.

2015:

QuOTE 2015 Q4: The Quarterly Outlook of Triangle Entrepreneurs (QuOTE) survey for Q4 2015, conducted by the NC State Entrepreneurship Clinic, finds entrepreneurs are viewing the next six months less optimistically in terms of capital spending and employment growth, but a bit more optimistically in terms of sales. Among the 142 entrepreneurs participating in this survey, a greater percentage 83.6% (vs. 81.1% in Q3 2015) report that they anticipate the next six months may bring increases in sales. In terms of capital spending, a lower percentage, 43.5% (vs. 58.9%), anticipate increases, and for employment, 50.4% (vs. 56.7%) anticipate increases.

QuOTE 2015 Q3: The Quarterly Outlook of Triangle Entrepreneurs (QuOTE) survey for Q3 2015, conducted by the NC State Entrepreneurship Clinic, finds entrepreneurs are viewing the next six months less optimistically than in previous quarters. Entrepreneurs participating in this third-quarter survey, a smaller percentage, 81.1 compared to 86.7 percent in Q2 2015, report that they anticipate the next six months may bring increases in sales. Similarly, in terms of capital spending, 58.9 percent, compared to 66.4 percent previously, anticipate increases; for employment, 56.7 percent of the Q3 respondents, compared to 67.9 percent previously, anticipate increases.

In terms of capital spending, a greater percentage – 66.4% (vs. 59.9%) – anticipate increases; for employment, 67.9% (vs. 61.7%) anticipate increases.

Among the entrepreneurs participating in this survey, 91.1 percent (vs. 86.9 percent of survey participants in the fourth quarter of 2014) report that they anticipate the next six months may bring increases in sales.
